A spot for relaxation & sporting activities in the Augarten
Find a welcome rest in Vienna’s baroque garden
A former wild landscape that only accommodated the Habsburgs’ hunting lodge was turned into an extensive park for Vienna’s citizens and tourists. The baroque Augarten from the 17th and 18th centuries is a popular meeting place today for anyone seeking relaxation as well as for runners and walkers. On the way through the park you can visit two anti-aircraft towers that have been preserved as remains from the Second World War.
Free time with friends & family in Vienna’s oldest baroque garden
In addition, your children will find age-appropriate play equipment on five different playgrounds during their family holiday in Vienna and a place to splash around in the Augartenbad. Sports tournaments can be played at the table tennis tables, in the football cage or on the beach volleyball and basketball courts. And the numerous drinking water fountains in the Augarten provide pleasant refreshment in between.
A guided tour through the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory
The park in Wien-Leopoldstadt, which is based on the French model with a parterre garden and star-shaped avenues, is also home to the second oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe. The manufactory itself is located in the emperors’ former pleasure palace, Augarten Palace. Take part in interesting guided tours through the Porcelain Manufactory and Porcelain Museum where beautiful unique pieces are exhibited, all individually crafted by hand.
A meeting place for people interested in music and culture in Vienna
It’s not just the many sports and leisure activities that make a visit to the Augarten worthwhile, but also the numerous music, cultural and theatre performances in Vienna’s park. In addition to the Vienna Boys Choir, the Filmarchiv Austria also has the ideal venue for its summer cinema there. Renowned classical, rock and jazz concerts also take place regularly in the Vienna Boys Choir Augarten concert hall.
So there are many reasons to visit Vienna’s Augarten. The best one is: it’s just a 20-minute walk from your boutique hotel The Harmonie Vienna to the Augarten entrance.
