Shopping in Vienna
Vienna is an unsung paradise for modern-day shoppers seeking to be perfectly dressed in hand-made pieces by labels steeped in decades of tradition. (New York Times)
A shopping tour in Vienna is pure joy. According to taste and budget there are shopping possibilities for everyone.
- We recommend the shopping streets Kohlmarkt, Graben and Kärntner Straße for those who prefer rather exclusive shopping pleasures and design products. Take the D tram from Best Western Premier Harmonie Vienna or walk about 15-20 minutes to get there.
- Mariahilferstraße in the 7th district is the longest shopping street in Vienna. Take the U and get off at the station “Museumsquartier”. In the side streets of Mariahilferstraße you will find small designer shops with interesting, creative and handmade products. Those shops unified and founded the Initiative 7tm.
- The former red light district Spittelberg is also located within walking distance of Mariahilferstraße. There you will find small galleries and one of the most charming Christmas Markets in the winter.
- The Naschmarkt near the U4 station „Kettenbrückengasse“ is ideal to shop for food. There is also a flea market every weekend in this area for hunters of rare Viennese treasures. The Naschmarkt is a must see even if you are not looking to buy anything. The excellent selection of exotic products, top quality restaurants and bars and general flair is something which must be experienced.
