Your art hotel in the middle of the city of culture

The Wiener Festwochen: five weeks of pure art and culture!

The Harmonie Vienna boutique hotel is a hotel that sees itself as marching to a different tune. On the one hand, it is situated in the middle of an artists’ quarter in the 9th district and therefore not far from Vienna’s old town that is bursting with art and culture itself. And at the heart of the hotel’s design is an art concept that combines dance and art in a unique way. The Peruvian artist Luis Casanova Sorolla immortalised the colourful traces of dancers on paper in his “Signapura” art project. These works of art now decorate The Harmonie Vienna. It is therefore obvious that we want to highly recommend art festivals like the Wiener Festwochen with its countless events, performances and concerts that take to the stage at a whole range of different venues year after year to our guests.

The Wiener Festwochen: an art festival in a class of its own

The Wiener Festwochen sees itself as a pan-genre art festival, an event for multidisciplinary artistic creation that is visionary while being aware of history, that is international while firmly rooted in the city of Vienna. Christophe Slagmuylder, the Belgian Director of the Wiener Festwochen, presents “his” festival under this motto. The colourful programme consists of umpteen productions year after year, including very special premieres time and time again, which hundreds of artists from all over the world are involved in. Theatre, performance, dance, music, visual arts, installations, discourse, participation and workshops are combined with each other at this internationally recognised art and culture festival resulting in new art forms.

A potpourri of fascinating locations and international artists

The Wiener Festwochen performances are held at a whole range of venues in the different districts, from the ice rink to renowned theatres and concert halls right up to public spaces. The hundreds of performances present things that have not been seen or heard yet. Many of the events have free admission: one highlight is certainly the opening of the Wiener Festwochen on Vienna’s Rathausplatz. This is just a 15-minute walk from the hotel, by the way. One popular meeting place for all art and culture lovers during the festival season is the “Festwochen Bar” that moves through the city and stops at different spots.
